Emmanuel Sanders on restructure: No way
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 6:51 PMProfootballtalk on NBCSports.com
Emmanuel Sanders posted on social media Tuesday that he would not agree to restructure his contract.
Analysis: Sanders is due $10.15 million after tearing his Achilles' tendon in December. The three-year extension he signed in September 2016 included $6.9 million guaranteed for injury. Perhaps a settlement is in order. Without that complicating factor, cutting Sanders would free up $10.25 million in space. Sanders turns 32 next month.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 6:48 PMBrian Costello on Twitter
Jets declined their 2019 team option on LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, making him a free agent.
Analysis: Pierre-Louis made nine appearances last season, playing 35 snaps on defense. He had been due $2 million in 2019. That was never going to happen after that light of a 2018 workload.
OC wants to rebuild Ravens from 'ground up'
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 5:56 PMThe Athletic
New Ravens OC Greg Roman wants to "rebuild the thing from the ground up."
Analysis: "(We) really want to start fresh, start new, and (with) everything from our language, our formations, how we do everything, rebuild the thing from the ground up," Roman said. "(Lamar Jackson is) a unique player with a unique skill set, so let's build an offense that really accommodates that, as opposed to try to fit him into something that other people had once done." Adjusting on the fly after Jackson became the starter in Week 11, the Ravens became one of the league's most run-heavy teams in decades last season. They will be the favorites to lead the NFL in rushing attempts in 2019, but Jackson averaged 32 passes per game his final two years at Louisville. Finding the right passing situations for him will be paramount for Roman.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 4:57 PMTom Pelissero on Twitter
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms the Chiefs are expected to franchise tag free agent Dee Ford.
Analysis: GM Brett Veach himself more or less confirmed this two weeks ago. The Chiefs have until March 5 to formally apply the tag. The sides will then have four months to negotiate a long-term contract.
Jerry: We will be in the market for a safety
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 3:16 PMTodd Archer on Twitter
Speaking Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team will be in the market for a safety this spring.
Analysis: "Yes," was Jones' response when asked if the team was considering safeties. "That's about all I'll say, but yes." Dots are starting to be re-connected between the Cowboys and free agent S Earl Thomas after last year's marathon trade flirtation. Those talks were dashed when Thomas broke his leg in September. Both sides seem eager to make something happen, but 29-year-old Thomas will have to prove he is healthy before anything else.
Jets decline Mike Pennel's option years
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 3:08 PMField Yates on Twitter
Jets declined the final two years on DT Mike Pennel's contract, making him a free agent.
Analysis: Pennel signed a "three-year contract" last March. He lasted one season and 358 snaps. They were 358 highly-effective snaps against the run, however. Going on 28, Pennel is a role player who could scare up a guaranteed million or two on the open market.
Andre Ellington resurfaces with Bucs, Arians
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 3:08 PMBucs on Twitter
Bucs signed RB Andre Ellington.
Analysis: Aside from a workout or two, Ellington spent 2018 out of the league. In Tampa, he will be reuniting with Bruce Arians, who was part of the team that made Ellington the No. 187 overall pick of the 2013 draft. Now on the wrong side of 30, Ellington can catch passes and make big plays. What he can't do is grind between the tackles and stay healthy. He will be a long-shot to crack the 53-man roster.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 2:33 PMProfootballtalk on NBCSports.com
Saints re-signed OL Michael Ola to a one-year contract.
Analysis: The journeyman made seven Saints appearances after signing last October. He suffered a high-ankle sprain in December. Going on 31, Ola is probably currently on the outside looking in of a 53-man roster spot.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 2:26 PMProfootballtalk on Twitter
Jets declined S Terrence Brooks' 2019 team option, making him a free agent.
Analysis: Although Brooks is being informed of the Jets' decision now, he will not be eligible to sign with a new team until the new league year begins on March 13. Brooks played only 92 snaps as Gang Green's No. 4 safety in 2018, though he was a core special teamer.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 1:16 PMField Yates on Twitter
Speaking on ESPN's NFL Live Tuesday, Rob Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus said a decision on the tight end's NFL future will come in the "next couple of weeks."
Analysis: "He's thinking it through, he's giving it a lot of thought," Rosenhaus said. "I imagine a decision will happen in the next couple of weeks." Gronk said the same thing following the Patriots' Super Bowl victory. The Pats probably want an answer by the start of the new league year next month.
Charles Clay signs one-year deal with Cards
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 11:08 AMAdam Schefter on Twitter
Cardinals signed Charles Clay, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year, $3.25 million contract.
Analysis: The deal includes a $350,000 signing bonus. Just cut by the Bills on Friday, Clay joins a growing list of released veterans who have found a home in Arizona. New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury did not routinely utilize tight ends in the passing game at Texas Tech, although Jace Amaro did have a big season playing under Kingsbury in Lubbock. Clay's addition could allow the Cardinals to use Ricky Seals-Jones as more of a receiver.
Orleans Darkwa suffered torn Achilles'
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 11:07 AMESPN
Free agent RB Orleans Darkwa suffered a torn Achilles' in October.
Analysis: The injury happened the day after he worked out for the Jaguars and helps explain why he spent the year out of the league. Darkwa said he is progressing well in his rehab, and he is expected to be ready by the time OTAs roll around. He likely will need to prove his health before he earns a deal.

Jaguars hired Dom Capers as a senior defensive assistant.
Analysis: Capers flirted with the Bengals about their defensive coordinator opening, but he reportedly turned down the job. The ex-Packers DC will instead help coach one of the most talented defenses in the league. It is possible the 68-year-old makes another run at a coordinator job next January.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 10:44 AMTom Pelissero on Twitter
Giants DBs coach Lou Anarumo will interview for the Bengals' defensive coordinator vacancy on Thursday.
Analysis: According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Anarumo is the "frontrunner" for a job the Bengals have struggled mightily to fill. A long-time defensive backs coach both in college and the NFL, Anarumo's only coordinating experience was on an interim basis with the Dolphins in 2015.

Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 10:15 AMAntonio Brown on Twitter
Antonio Brown met with Steelers owner Art Rooney II on Tuesday.
Analysis: Brown said they "had a great meeting" in which they "cleared the air on several issues." Brown also said he and Rooney "both agreed that it is time to move on." If that is true, the Steelers should begin allowing other teams to talk money with Brown as soon as possible in order to help facilitate a trade. Brown is owed a $2.5 million roster bonus on March 17. The Steelers need him off the books by then if they plan to trade him.
Falcons sign Ty Sambrailo to 3-year extension
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 9:24 AMatlantafalcons.com
Falcons signed OL Ty Sambrailo to a three-year extension through 2021.
Analysis: A former second-round pick by the Broncos, Sambrailo has mostly been a reserve tackle throughout his career, but he was forced into four late-season starts -- three at right tackle and one at left guard -- last season. He showed well in those starts, however, and will likely get a shot to win the right tackle job in camp.
Rashad Ross hoping to get back to NFL
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 9:17 AMNBC Sports Washington
Appearing on NBC Sports Washington, Arizona Hotshots WR Rashad Ross said his "ultimate goal is to get back in the NFL."
Analysis: Ross has opened the AAF season on fire, catching nine passes for 170 yards and three scores in two games. The former Redskin made more of an impact as a returner than receiver during his two seasons in Washington, but he is showing he can be a factor on offense as well. If this keeps up, Ross will likely earn his way onto a training camp roster.
Mark Ingram: I'm not afraid to bet on myself
Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 9:06 AMNew Orleans Times-Picayune
During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, impending free agent Mark Ingram said, "I'm not afraid to bet on myself."
Analysis: Ingram said he would "love" to remain in New Orleans and has had conversations with the Saints, but it does not sound like those talks have gone anywhere. "It's kind of like a thing where they say they want me back, I say, 'I want to be back,' it's just can we compromise on the value," Ingram said. "I love the organization, and I hope it all gets worked out. But at the same time, I have all confidence in my abilities." At 29, Ingram should be looking for the biggest payday he can find. He is Rotoworld's No. 3 available running back.
